VAT Hike for Books "Suicide", Booksellers Say

Ljubljana, 13 May - The Chamber of Publishers and Booksellers and the Slovenian Journalists' Association oppose the government's plans to raise both rates of VAT on 1 July. The publishers have labelled the increase from 8.5% to 9.5% for books a "short-sighted and suicidal act", while journalists warn of the impact on newspapers and magazines.
