Slovene Elementary Schools to Introduce A Subject on Religions and Ethics
Ljubljana, 14 February - The Slovene Parliament adopted the bills on preschool, elementary school, secondary school, and on adult education Wednesday at the 37th regular session and thus concluded the process of adopting a bundle of bills on new education legislation which will gradually but thoroughly remodel the education system in Slovenia. The umbrella bill on organization and financing of education and the bill on technical education and vocational training were adopted last week. Parliament decided that elementary schools will introduce a subject on religions and ethics in the last triad of a new nine-year elementary school as an obligatory optional subject. Students will be required to choose between the subject on religions and ethics, a foreign language and rhetoric in the framework of the social and humanistic orientation.
