50th Anniversary of National and University Library

Presenting a publication entitled "Fifty Years of the National and University Library", representatives of the National and University Library (NUK) emphasized Friday the development and tradition of this important national institution corresponded to a much longer period. The legal act stipulating the foundation of the central Slovene library in 1945 was but a conclusion of 170-year long aspirations for its foundation. Today NUK can observe the 222nd anniversary as the central science library in Slovenia, the 50th anniversary as the national library and the 77th anniversary as the university library.
