Ljubljana, 17 March - TOPIC/WEEK
The National Assembly in this week finally adopted a decree on giving an approval to the 1996 Programme of the Company for Motorways in the Republic of Slovenia (Dars), which is in line with the national motorways building programme for this year. The programme of the work of the Company encompasses building of motorway network in this year, a continuation of the building of motorway sections which was commenced in 1994 and 1995, and building of the sections that are to be completed within this year. Thus Slovenia is to get 101.4 kilometres of new four-lane motorways and six kilometres of a two-lane bypass around Lendava, which means that Slovenia is to have 400 kilometres of motorways. Minister of Transport and Communications Igor Umek maintained that 75 percent of this year's programme would be fulfilled and not only 68 percent as last year.
