Indices have been lately piling up that a brisk diplomatic activity is going on between official Zagreb and Ljubljana, expected to eventually result in settled neighborhood relations between the two former Yugoslav federal states. But settling relations in a way bringing one negotiating partner more and the other less than expected is a possible source of a new conflict, which could emburden bilateral relations also in the future, stresses the commentator Marcel Koprol of daily Slovenec Monday. A belief has prevailed in Slovenia that Slovene negotiators are lacking determination and becoming over-indulgent, so that Slovene national and statehood interests might get played down again.
