An Interview with Minister of Culture Janez Dular: The Slovene Language Needs to be Protected!

In an interview for STA the new Minister of Culture Janez Dular estimated that significant changes have been made in cultural legislation over the past few years, and moved for legal protection of the basis of national identity - the Slovene language, which is also an obligation, stated in the constitution. Minister Dular presented his views on the structure and orientation of the Law on Slovene in Public Use, as well as the instances in charge of its implementation (he proposed an Office for Language to be set up at the Government or the Ministry of Culture). Cultural Minister also tackled the issues of contemporary Slovene identity, some disturbing and senseless deviations, the notion of multiculturality with regard to Slovene minorities abroad, the idea of implementing the common Slovene space as well as his plans for future activities of the Ministry of Culture.
