Slovenian-Led Team Makes First 3D Map of Diffuse Interstellar Bands

Ljubljana, 19 August - An international team led by Janez Kos and Tomaž Zwitter of the Ljubljana Mathematics and Physics Faculty has designed the first three-dimensional map of what astronomers term diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs). The findings, published last week by the Science magazine, could shed light on a phenomena puzzling astronomers for almost a century.
