Dnevnik and Republika about No Confidence to Zoran Thaler

Ljubljana, 17 May - In the commentary entitled "Deaf Ear to State Interests", the daily Delo enumerates on Friday mistakes made by Zoran Thaler during his one-year long mandate, emphasizing that out of objective conditions few could do more in his place. This too makes it the more absurd that the Parliament ousted Thaler almost at the same time as it supported the pro-European strategy of the government. The no confidence vote was only about cutting off the head and not about a serious discussion about false moves of Slovene diplomacy; and reproaches to the minister were more or less empty. After common sense had prevailed in the parliament in the discussion about the Spanish proposition, the interpellation debate proved that the sense of state interests is not known in this area. The discussion about the activities and responsibility of the foreign minister was not concerned with repairing Slovene foreign policy, but exclusively with making internal-policy profit. Delo points out that the fact that the minster was relieved at the time of great delicacy for Slovenia is most problematic.
