President Kučan on Pope's Visit in Slovenia
Maribor, 20 May - POPE/SLOVENIA/KUČAN
President of Slovenia Milan Kučan said upon the end of the visit of Pope John Paul II in Slovenia that the nation had been a respectable host. President Kučan expressed belief that by meeting the Slovenes the Pope had had an opportunity to see by himself how respected he was among the Slovenes and how many sincere friends he had in Slovenia. The visit gave Slovenia an opportunity to be recognized more widely throughout the world and to strengthen its international position, the President said late Sunday night.
