Planica Vying for 2020, 2021 Worlds

Oberhofen, 4 May - Slovenia's Planica has submitted bids to organise the Ski Flying World Championships in 2020 and the Nordic World Championships in the following year.

The only candidate to submit a bid for the 2020 event at the International Ski Federation (FIS) by Monday's deadline, Planica is almost certain to be selected the organiser.

This would be the seventh time after 1972, 1979, 1985, 1994, 2004 and 2010 that it hosts the world's top ski jumpers.

Its bid for the Nordic Worlds is much more uncertain, though, as it will be up against Trondheim, Norway, and Oberstdorf, Germany.

Both competing centres have already hosted Nordic Worlds before while Planica has been unsuccessful twice so far.

The organisers will be announced at the FIS congress on 9 June.
