Maypole Tradition Stands Strong in Slovenia

Ljubljana, 7 May - The ancient tradition of erecting maypoles is on full display in Slovenia at the start of May, with hundreds of decorated trees towering over villages and towns testament to the fact that the spring ritual remains very much alive in the country.

Maypoles like this one in front of the Trade Union Centre in downtown Ljubljana are a common sight in Slovenia in May.
