WWII Allies on the Opposite Sides over Trieste

Ljubljana, 7 May - In early May 1945 Slovenian territory was liberated of occupying forces in a final push by the Partisans and allied forces as WWII was coming to an end. Fierce fights were witnessed as major cities were liberated, including in Trieste.

Legendary Slovenian author from Trieste Boris Pahor, who survived a Nazi concentration camp during WWII and witnessed the burning down of the Slovenian National Centre (Narodni dom) in Trieste by Fascists in 1920, when he was only 7.
