In the Field of Traffic Slovenia Managed to Meet with Negotiation Starting Points

In the negotiations for the associate membership in the European Union (EU), in the filed of traffic, Slovenia managed to ensure a legal continuity of the 1993 reached agreement on transport, which will be in force until 2003, told at the Monday news conference State Secretary to the Ministry of Transport and Communications Marjana Novak. The EU association agreement preserves a protection clause about a potential limitation of transit traffic in case this is to cause any harm to Slovenia. Novak assessed the Slovene delegation managed to satisfy the negotiation starting points, with the exception of the Port of Koper (Luka Koper) not gaining a status of a European port until Slovenia has become a full member of the EU.
