The government realizes that the economic situation is very serious, emphasized Prime Minister Janez Drnovšek at today's conference with economists on a program of economic policy, which was organized by the government and Gospodarski Vestnik, a weekly finance publication. Despite fundamental changes to the system in a number of areas over the past year and a half, the most critical institutional reforms have yet to be implemented. The key legislational framework was only established at the end of last year with the passing of the ownership law, emphasized Drnovšek.
