During official training before the finals of the world ski-jumping championship in Planica, the Japanese ski jumper Noriaki Kasai, ranked third in the overall listing in the world championships, set a new record for the Bloudek Giant (K=120 m) in the second series of jumps. Kasai jumped 140 m, experiencing no difficulties in his landing.
