Dnevnik: Pučnik - Slovenia's Declaration of Independence Essentially an Act of Secession

"Slovenia became independent. For international - tactical reasons, we should talk about disunion even today, but the move was essentially an act of secession. Disunion was not particularly favoured in Yugoslavia. In reality we became independent by means of an act of power, by deciding that the constitution of the Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia does not apply on Slovene territory from 25 June 1991 on," Jože Pučnik, leader of the former coalition Demos, today an MP of Social Democrats, said in an interview for the daily Dnevnik on Saturday.
