Reason for Slow Pace of Payments Reform

Slovene banks are still not organized economically, particularly due to an unappropriate ratio between the number of employed and their productivity, which is a reason for high bank margins, that is for expensive loans. By signing the associate agreement with the European Union (EU), Slovene banks are given a five- to six-year period to adjust the Slovene bank system to the European system and to foreign banks' competitiveness, told at the Wednesday assembly of the Banks of Slovenia Association head of the association's supervisory board Darko Tolar. He presented the work and some problems the Association had been dealing with in the last year, from the time of the last year's assembly onwards.
