Lower Unemployment Mainly Due to Deletion from Records

The National Unemployment Office (NUO) recorded 113,977 unemployed persons in end-June, 3.7 percent less than in June, which makes it the largest monthly decrease this year. Unemployment rate decreased by 10.1 percent over end last year and by 2.1 percent over last June. However, despite the fact that in the first half of this year more unemployed registered anew than in the same period last year, their number decreased mainly due to the increased number of persons deleted from NUO records, NUO Deputy Director Sonja Pirher told a news conference Tuesday.
