The Republic of Slovenia's Financial Assets
Ljubljana, 27 July - TOPIC/WEEK/STATE/ASSETS/INVENTORY
What assets does Slovenia as legal entity possess is one of the questions that has been raised very frequently, particularly in connection with the privatization of state-owned assets bill as well as, with a potential closing of a so called "privatization gap" which might be filled by privatizing part of state-owned assets. The Ministry of Finance holds information about the state-owned financial assets. Gathering the information on assets value of legal entities of which the state is a founder or in which it has a capital share and drawing up an iventory of debts and investments, the ministry compiled a data base of the state-owned assets. Data on the state-owned financial assets' value is unavailable at present, being labeled as confidential. Interesting are some findings of State Secretary of state-owned means trusteeship in the Ministry of Finance Lucija Gregorčič. During a process of data gathering, an insufficient definition of state-owned assets was hit upon, as well as several missing pre-statutory documents and considerable legal vagueness.
