Slovenia's Successful Eurobonds Debut

Having settled relations with international financial organizations and achieved extremely favorable credit worthiness assessments, (Standard Poor's (A); Moody's Investors Service (A3) and IBCA (A-)), Slovenia launched its first Eurobonds on 22 July, with the documents for the release signed Wednesday. Aided by the J. P. Morgan investment bank, Eurobonds were released in an issue size of $ 325m, achieving the launch spread of 58 bp over the US Treasury five-year bond, Finance Minister Mitja Gaspari told a news conference Wednesday. The bonds were issued with the price of 99.275 percent and a fixed 7 percent interest rate, which on issue equaled to a 7.175 percent yield. The issue date is 6 August 1996 with a five-year tenor.
