Bukovec Wins Women's 100m Hurdles Silver
Atlanta, 2 August - Slovenia's hurdler Brigita Bukovec was the second Slovene after Andraž Vehovar's silver in whitewater kayak to win an Olympic medal. Setting a new national record in 12.59, she came second after Sweden's Ludmila Engquist, missing the gold medal by 0.01 second. Hers is the first ever Olympic medal for Slovene athletics.
