egislative Referendum on Elections to Parliament 90 days after Constitution of New Parliament

Ljubljana, 7 August - PARLIAMENT/ACT/REFERENDUM/ELECTIONS
With 36 votes "for" and 21 votes "against", deputies of the Slovene National Assembly passed an act on calling a legislative referendum for elections to the National Assembly (DZ) on Wednesday at the 49th extraordinary session. The 90th day after the new parliament is constituted, the day of calling referendum has to be set, foresees the passed act, and the referendum is held on the first Sunday after a 30-day period from the day of calling referendum expires. An additional decision by the DZ urged the government to prepare amendments to the law on referendum and people's initiative by 15 September; the amendments will settle the question of the manner of voting as well as the question of counting referendum votes in case two or more competitive referendums were held on the same day.
