Destination Srbistan to open 7th Festival of Migrant Film
Ljubljana, 15 June - A total of 20 films from a dozen countries will be featured at the 7th Festival of Migrant Film, which will be launched in Ljubljana's Kinodvor cinema on Wednesday evening with Destination Srbistan by Serbian director Želimir Žilnik.
Running until 20 June in several locations across the country, the festival looks to point to the most burning issues when it comes to migration.
According to programming director Marina Uzelac, a number of films are dedicated to the Balkan migration route and Greece. This topic will be covered on the last day of the festival, which coincides with World Refugee Day.
In addition to film screenings, the festival will feature a number of discussions with the expert public and filmmakers as well as migrants themselves.
One of the discussions will be held in the Slovenian Cinematheque in Ljubljana on Thursday, focusing on the challenges in the local integration of refugees.
