Memorial run invites you to Lake Bohinj this week
Ljubljana, 3 August - Recreation enthusiasts can this week participate in a memorial 11-kilometre run around Bohinj Lake, Slovenia's largest lake, or test their endurance and versatility in a triathlon in the picturesque south-eastern region of Bela krajina.
The 19th Run of the Four Brave Men will take place on Saturday in memory of the four individuals who first climbed Mt Triglav, Slovenia's highest mountain.
A non-competitive race for children will also be organised.
On the same day, more enduring athletes are invited to participate in the 8th Bela krajina Triathlon in Primostek near the town of Metlika on the border with Croatia.
The triathlon "for everyone" features a 200-metre swim in the beautiful Kolpa river, a 10-kilometre bicycle ride around picturesque villages and a 3-kilometre run on the fields around Primostek.
The Pohorje Bike Festival is meanwhile inviting mountain bikers for a meeting on the Pohorje hill above the city of Maribor on Sunday.
Up to 1,000 participants from all over Slovenia as well as Croatia and Austria are expected to show up and test the "idyllic paths among forest reserves", according to the organisers.
