Run through a karst cave or explore Loška dolina
Ljubljana, 12 October - Recreation enthusiasts will be able to test themselves this week in the only run in the country going through a karst cave or explore the heritage of the Loška dolina valley by foot.
The X-run Dimnice is the only race in Slovenia going through the Kras underground, through the Dimnica cave.
The cave run is dedicated to the protection of the Karst underground, with participation fees going for its cleaning.
The organisers warn that the slippery trail through the cave does not allow runners to develop high speeds, and tall runners will have to mind their heads at certain places due to the low ceiling.
The cave has its legend, saying that vapour is coming from the cave in the winter because the devil is smoking meat.
Hikers will meanwhile be able to attend the 6th Walk along the Loška dolina Valley, organised on the occasion of World Walking Day and the local holiday of the Loška dolina municipality.
The event runs mainly along the Loška dolina heritage trail and features a 20-km trail, which takes some six hours, and a 11-km trail, which requires some three hours to complete.
