Christmas, a time for family and rituals

Ljubljana, 24 December - Christmas festivities in Slovenia will culminate this weekend, starting with Christmas Eve, when families decorate their Christmas trees, set up nativity scenes, exchange gifts and visit midnight mass. Many of the holiday's rituals also have roots in pre-Christian times, when magic was used to alter the fate foretold.
