Republika and Delo on Appropriation Account of Former Yugoslavia
Ljubljana, 3 October - The French court concluded the first stage of legal dispute over the former National Bank of Yugoslavia's deposits between Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia on one side and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia on the other. The National Bank of FRY succeeded this spring in an attempt to remove the assets from nine French banks to one among them, Banque Franco-Yugoslave. This bank had been founded even before the break-up of former Yugoslavia by a Serbian businessman, living in France, in cooperation with Serbia's authorities. It is thus well known in whose hands the money lies, Republika writes.
