Ambassador of Slovenian vodka now finally gets to know the country

Ljubljana, 6 June - Hollywood actor Bill Murray has finally come to Slovenia, a full four years after he became the face of Slovenia Vodka in the United States. The three-day whirlwind tour of the country will include an obligatory stop in Sevnica, the birthplace of First Lady Melania Trump.

Bill Murray came to Slovenia on Monday at the invitation of American chef Peter Kelly and Emil Gasparin, a Slovenian businessman working in the US.

The pair had come up with the idea for buckwheat-based Slovenia Vodka and signed up Bill Murray, who went on to become a partner in the joint venture.

In promoting Slovenia Vodka, Murray is in fact acting out in real life his role in Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation, which features him promoting whiskey in Japan.

But Murray told POP TV that there was one major difference. "At least I get a drink from these people, I didn't get an ounce of whiskey from Suntory," he said.

After spending the day in Ljubljana, Murray plans to visit the lakeside resort of Bled and Melania Trump's hometown.
