Number of newborns decreasing, life expectancy increasing
Ljubljana, 28 June - A total of 20,345 children were born in Slovenia last year, an average 56 a day. This is the ninth consecutive generation of more than 20,000 children, but the number keeps decreasing each year, due to smaller generations of women in the reproductive age (15-49 years).
