Recreationists in for events on the Soča, handball festival

Tolmin/Koper, 28 June - Outdoor recreation enthusiasts will be able to join an event in the beautiful Soča river valley in western Slovenia which combines trail running, cycling, paragliding and kayaking, while those who like ball sports can watch a European handball festival on the coast.

The Soča Outdoor Festival, which starts in the town of Tolmin on Saturday, wants to "offer an unforgettable flow in the water and in the air and on trails and evening dance parties."

The organisers of the event aim to attract all kinds of sportspeople - from competitive professionals to recreational participants who only want to combine sport with entertainment, according to its website.

Meanwhile, the 25th European Handball Festival will take place in the coastal town of Koper between 3 and 8 July, with the organisers expecting more than 160 teams of various age categories from Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas.

A beach handball tournament and a wheelchair handball tournament will also be organised as part of the festival.

"With their positive energy and youthful playfulness, more than 3,000 participants from all over the world will give Koper a special touch at the beginning of July," the organisers have announced.
