Run around Lake Bled or take memorial hike to a mountain hut
Bled/Idrija, 5 July - A night run around Lake Bled, which has however already sold out, and a hike to a mountain hut over Idrija to mark its 110th anniversary will be among the top recreational events this week.
On Saturday, runners will have the opportunity to enjoy Lake Bled in the 2017 Night Tenner, meaning that the race will start at 10 PM and take ten kilometres.
The sold-out event featuring exactly 3,003 participants will be preceded by shorter runs for children, recreationists and barefoot runners.
"The organisers will make sure all participants wear headlamps. Each participant will receive a voucher for an original Bled kremšnita cream cake."
Hikers are meanwhile invited to join the celebration of the 110th anniversary of Pirnat's mountain hut just below the 1,140 m Javornik peak near the town of Idrija in western Slovenia.
"It was the year 1907 when our ancestors gathered in the Idrija branch of the Slovenian mountaineering association and the locals opened on 4 August the first mountain hut under Javornik," the organisers say.
Those who make it to the mountain hut will be presented some facts on history of mountaineering in the area, the current situation of the local mountaineering association and the maintenance works on the hut in the last 15 years.
