Press Review From Slovenia
Ljubljana, 19 August - The press conference held by Slovenia's Minister of Justice, Miha Kozinc, to vigorously defend the Maribor legal authorities following Defence Minister Janša's criticisms was the main item of news in today's dailies. Kozinc stated that the criticism voiced by none other than a Government Minister, in other words a representative of the nation's executive powers, should be interpreted as an attack on the independence of the nation's judicial system (Delo). A considerable amount of coverage was also given to the press conference held by the Slovenian National-Social Liberal Bloc, which aimed criticism above all at the Associated List and the judiciary (Slovenec). The war in Bosnia-Herzegovina is still at the forefront of news from abroad, with reports from the B-H army on massive troop movements by Serbian units in preparation for an attack on the liberated territories, and the news that the first talks on the division of Bosnia-Herzegovina are to commence soon in Geneva.
