Busy year for international takeovers of Slovenian firms

Ljubljana, 5 December - Slovenian companies were popular takeover targets in 2017, starting in January with the biggest corporate takeover in Slovenian history, the one billion dollar acquisition of app maker Outfit 7 by a group of Chinese investors led by businessman Ou Yaping. The deal allowed the wealthiest Slovenians, Samo and Iza Login, to cash out and produced several other millionaires along the way.

The Outfit 7 deal was simple, unlike the takeover of caravan maker Adria Mobil by French maker of recreational vehicles Trigano. That transaction, worth EUR 200m, involved slicing the ACH conglomerate up into three parts to give Trigano control of Adria Mobil while leaving the remaining tourism and car divisions to ACH directors.

Adtech startup Zemanta, one of Slovenia's most successful start-ups, was acquired by the world's largest content discovery platform, the Israeli firm Outbrain, and the troubled winery Agroind was sold to an Austrian winery. Both transactions were completed in July.
