A total of 26 authors from 20 countries attended the 32nd Vilenica festival, which traditionally takes place in the south-western region of Karst in September, to discuss Literature that Changes the World that Changes Literature. In addition, spotlight was given to Norwegian literature, Slovenian poet Maja Vidmar, and Ukrainian Yurii Andrukhovych, the laureate of this year's festival.

While Vilenica focuses on Central European authors, Fabula opens to the entire world, this year going even beyond: into immortality. The organisers decided on the topic because it is the most universal theme used in art. It is also the topic that all visiting authors, including French Mathias Enard, Finn Sofi Oksanen and Russian Viktor Yerofeyev, write about in one way or another.
