Privatization Shares Dominate 1996 Stock Exchange Transactins

Ljubljana, 12 December - LJUBLJANA/STOCK/EXCHANGE
The arrival of shares by newly-privatized companies was the process that had the strongest impact on this year's stock exchange transactions, Director of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange Draško Veselinovič told a news conference Thursday. From the official listing of Kolinska shares in January, a total of 30 shares have thus been listed so far at the stock exchange and open C markets, raising market capitalization from SIT 40 billion to SIT 123 billion ($898 million). The entire stock market capitalization jumped from SIT 102 billion to SIT 180 billion ($1.3 billion). The annual turnover was close to last year's ($598 million), but its structure greatly changed in favour of shares.
