Privatization Shares Predominated on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange in 1996
Ljubljana, 28 December - TOPIC/WEEK
This year the Ljubljana Stock Exchange was marked by the arrival of shares of privatized companies. Privatization shares of 30 companies were listed either on the A or B stock exchange quotations or the external C market, whereby trading in shares of two companies (Etol and Cetis) has not started yet. Trading in these 28 shares being launched, the market capitalization (that is the multiplication of the price and the number of shares quoted) of shares listed on the stock exchange quotations as well as on the external C market increased from SIT 40 billion (US$ 282 million) at the beginning of this year to SIT 123 billion at the end of it. The market capitalization of the whole stock exchange went up from SIT 102 billion to SIT 180 billion. In spite of the substantially increased market capitalization, the management of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange estimates that the annual amount of trading in 1996 is to be on about the same level as that of last year (SIT 82 billion), which means the structure of trading has much inclined in favour of shares.
