At its fist extraordinary session taking place from 8 through 16 January, Slovenia's National Assembly elected at the proposal of President Milan Kučan leader of the Liberal Democracy and incumbent prime minister, Janez Drnovšek to the post of premier, formed 21 working bodies and five parliamentary delegations to Euro-Atlantic integrations and elected Jožica Velišček the Parliament's Secretary General.
