Mercator Estimates 1996 Annual Profit at US$ 4.75 Million

Mercator Business System made an estimated SIT 670 million (US$ 4.75 million) annual profit in 1996, with sales increasing by 3 percent. The most important event last year was the adoption of its business plan for the next three years, whose central part was a DM 180 million investment programme. Last year, Mercator transformed from a business system with 28 trade companies to four trade corporations, investing DM 60 million to its retail network.
