New Government - Declarations of Party Leaders

Ljubljana, 24 January - GOVERNMENT/OPOSITION/PARTIES
Slovenia's Premier-designate Janez Drnovšek decided Friday to form a government with minimal support, i. e. on the basis of the votes of 46 lawmakers (Slovene parliament has 90 seats) who confirmed him as premier-designate. That means that the idea of government of national unity, in which all parties would be included, failed, because an agreement was not reached with the spring parties (SLS, SDS, SKD). The STA collected reactions of party leaders to this decision.
