The SBI Index has Made an Increase of 25 Percent This Year

Share prices on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange increased sharply last week, 18 shares marking a rise and only four a fall in the Friday-to-Friday period. Five shares appreciated by more than 20 percent, the most prominent rise being made by Probanka share, which was up by about 30 percent from SIT 16,520 to SIT 22,069. The SBI index of shares closed at 1479.37 point, which is by 156.64 point (12%) up from the week before or by 296.11 point (25%) up from the last day of last year. The BIO index of bonds was down by 0.56 point to 106.78 point last week, making a drop of 1.11 point from the end of 1996.
