Ljubljana, 31 January - Aslan Mashadov, former Chechen chief-of-staff, scored two decisive victories in a relatively short period of time: the first, moral one, by military conquest over the Russian Army, and the second in this week's election. However, as the first president of new Chechnya, he has yet to face the most important task - the struggle for the international recognition of the republic. Whether he is to succeed for the third time is the question posed by the daily Delo in its Friday issue.
