"Odhojene Stopinje" to the Homeland

In Ljubljana and Maribor today, the Mohorjeva Association of Celje presented the book "Odhojena Stopinje" ("Treaded Steps") by Zorko Simčič (born 1921), Slovenian writer, dramatist, and essayist, who has been involved in literary creation for more than 50 years and already has 10 books to his name. Simčič received his first literary prize as a student in Ljubljana. He wrote and published during the Second World War, while the majority of his work came into being during his exile in Argentina, where he emigrated from Italy in 1948. His novel "Človek na Obeh Straneh Stene" ("The Man on Both Sides of the Wall"), published in Argentina in 1957, was printed in Slovenia three years ago and received the Prešeren Prize for 1993. Following his return to his native country this summer Simčič prepared "Treaded Steps", his second book to be published in Ljubljana, with the help of editor Jože Faganel, a book which represents a review of his works in exile.
