Note to subscribers - fake STA website

Ljubljana, 17 April - Please note that posts containing links to a fake Slovenian Press Agency (STA) website have started spreading on Facebook, in an apparent scam that abuses the STA name and brand.

There are various articles on the fake website (screenshots are attached), including about an ostensible Slovenian millionaire and a Slovenian police officer.

Their stories are designed to entice users to test high-reward online games. Clicking the Facebook posts takes the users to the fake STA website, which is a gateway for an online gambling site.

There are several indications the website is fake.

The address is http://drtrack.world instead of the official https://www.sta.si.

The fake articles are in Slovenian, but the page layout is taken from the English version of the STA website.

And the elements in the page header are different than the elements on the true STA website.

STA users are advised to be cautious and refrain from clicking on suspicious links.
