Bill to tighten asylum legislation voted down

Ljubljana, 20 June - The bill with which the opposition Democrats (SDS) wanted to tighten Slovenia's asylum legislation was rejected in a 49:32 vote in parliament on Thursday. The majority of MPs said the changes to the international protection act are not in line with the EU asylum policy, which is however not flawless, and accused the SDS of fearmongering.
