Weekly Review of Slovene Economy from 9 Through 15 March
Ljubljana, 15 March - Italian economic delegation, accompanying Italy's Prime Minister Romano Prodi during his first official visit in Slovenia, visited the Slovene Chamber of Economy on Tuesday. Over 20 representatives of Italian banks, associations, insurance companies and enterprises met with about 30 representatives of Slovene banks, companies, GZS branch associations and several ministries (of transport and communication, finance, economic activities and foreign affairs). While Slovene representatives saw opportunities in bilateral cooperation in areas such as joint ventures and transfer of technologies, Italians expressed hope that the association agreement between Slovenia and the EU and the harmonization of Slovene legislation with that of the EU would enable greater presence of Italian companies in Slovenia's market.
