President of the European Commission Jacques Santer will pay an official visit to Rumania on Thursday, 10 April, and to Slovenia on Friday, 11 April, the European Commission reported in Brussels on Wednesday. Santer, who will be visiting Rumania and Slovenia in the framework of his tour to the countries candidates for full membership in the European Union, is to talk to Slovene and Rumanian officials about their preparations for convergence and to encourage the process of political and economic reforms, a European Commission official said ahead of the visit.
