Premier Drnovšek about Government's Economic Measures

Prime Minister Janez Drnovšek talked in an interview for Slovene national radio on Tuesday about the first package of economic measures adopted by the government at its extraordinary session on Monday and sent to be discussed by the National Assembly. He announced also the second package of measures and possibility to introduce new taxations. The latter, he said, will not burden the economy and will not influence inflation directly. Among possible new taxes Prime Minister brought up property taxes and taxation of activities that make high profits also by speculation, such as financial brokering. The funds thus raised would be then directed into economy, Drnovšek.
