Drnovšek: Referendum on NATO Entry Could be Misunderstood

I object to calling a referendum on Slovenia's entry into NATO as in the present moment the step could be misunderstood abroad, Slovenia's Prime Minister Janez Drnovšek told in an interview for Radio Slovenia on Tuesday. Speaking of Slovenia's chances to join NATO in the first expansion wave, he said the most adequate was the estimate by NATO Secretary General Javier Solana, who advised "moderate optimism."
