Weekly Review of Slovene Economy from 14 through 19 April
Ljubljana, 19 April - Slovene government adopted on Monday, 14 April, a package of economic measures, which are to be passed through a fast-track procedure by the National Assembly next week. Since Slovenia has not adopted the 1997 national budget yet and since the decree on temporary financing adopted in December 1996 does not allow for sufficient funds to carry out most urgent tasks in some fields, the government proposed a special law in the package to provide funds in the period of temporary financing in 1997. The draft bill earmarks incomes of SIT 331 billion and expenses of SIT 355 billion for the first half of 1997. The deficit of SIT 24 billion is to be covered partially from the 1996 surplus (SIT 13 billion) and partially through additional borrowing (SIT 28 billion)..
