Further easing of coronavirus restrictions planned for Monday

Ljubljana, 13 May - The government decided to lift restrictions on all shops starting on Monday, while bars and restaurants will be able to serve patrons indoors again. Tourist accommodation with up to 30 rooms will reopen, while larger hotels, hostels and mountain huts will remain closed for now, government spokesman Jelko Kacin announced on Wednesday.

Throughout the coronavirus epidemic in Slovenia, only grocery shops and agricultural shops remained open. In the past weeks, several exceptions were added for smaller shops, but many apparel, footwear and other specialised shops, including almost all shops in malls, remained closed.

Bars and restaurants were allowed to reopen last week, but they could only serve patrons outside.

Hotels and other accommodation facilities have also been shut down since the start of the lockdown. The decision made today is the first easing of restrictions in this sector.
